UPCOMING EVENT

The PSDM group of the Biometrics Section (BMS) of the Netherlands Society for Statistics and Operations Research (VVS/OR) cordially invites you for the event

Open Source Software in Clinical Research:
cost-saving opportunity or high-risk solution?

Tuesday 19th June 2012, Utrecht

hosted by Julius Clinical Research B.V., Zeist

Registration is possible through the PSDM website from May 8, 2012

Introduction

In the execution of the modern-day clinical trial we are largely dependent on software systems for the collection, management, analysis and presentation of our study data. Typically, these software systems are developed by specialized vendors who license their software to the end users, but several well-developed systems are distributed as open source software (e.g. EDC “OpenClinica”, data analysis system “R” and CDISC validator “OpenCDISC”).

Our speakers will present possibilities of some of the available open source software, compare them against their commercial alternatives and provide examples for implementation of these systems within our industries. We would also like to invite you to participate in a round-table discussion on advantages, risks and restrictions in the use of opens source software within clinical trials.
